By doing your homework ahead of time you can avoid many of the pitfalls (logistical and financial) and make the process go smoothly. It all starts by developing a realistic and practical timeline for everyone that is involved in the process. Some of the things that must be considered up front include: site selection and local code compliance; design and build requirements (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, etc.); and the actual physical buildout and construction. 11:15 AM  -  12:15 PM Session 2: Cannabis Growing TechniquesGrowers have different options when it comes to producing cannabis. There are the similarities and differences between greenhouse production versus growing indoors. This session will examine how the different growing techniques can impact plant development all the way from production of the mother stock through propagation and into production and harvest. 1:15 PM  -  2:15 PM Session 3: Production Considerations for Industrial HempLast year Dr. Justice's presentation focused on production considerations when switching from the ornamental/vegetable industry to cannabis. This year the discussion will go one step further into considerations for the production of industrial hemp. Dr. Justice will provide a broad overview of what is involved in growing hemp and the differences and similarities between industrial hemp and other commonly produced crops. Topics covered will be potential profits, types of industrial hemp, yields, extraction techniques, plant pathogens and disease, genetics, and sales routes. Speakers: Allison Justice
2:15 PM  -  3:15 PM Session 4: Managing Pests & DiseasesWhen it comes to managing pests and diseases, cannabis and hemp growers face some similar and some very different challenges than ornamentals growers. Knowing what they can and can't do to control insects and diseases and grow high quality crops is imperative. During this session, Styer will address some of the issues that growers need to be aware of when implementing pest and disease controls in their cultivation facilities. Speakers: Roger Styer
