About Opium

While the name may be slightly intense, you’ll soon find that you have a love for this Amsterdam-based strain. Opium is an evenly-balanced hybrid that won 2nd place at the 2006 High Times Cannabis Cup and has become a popular plant the world over. Breeders at Paradise Seeds are careful to keep her lineage a secret, instead stating that she’s from “classic” strains.

Falling right in the middle of today’s THC spectrum, Opium averages around 19% and is great for all users. Nugs tend to be very fluffy and light and look exactly how you’d expect marijuana to - green with orange hairs. There’s nothing overly different about their appearance, but the taste is another story. Soil and citrus mix for a rather dank and spicy blend which can be off putting for some.

As you’d imagine a strain named after a hard drug would perform, Opium’s high is great for soothing your mind and body with ease. While you might be tempted to slip away into Dreamland for the night, you’ll first experience a euphoric burst that’s uplifting yet also very mellow. Visual effects help to heighten your psychoactive experience, but when used in moderation, you should still be able to stay in a relaxed place.

Medical patients tend to really enjoy Opium for its ability to allow your aches and pains to vanish while keeping you fully functional. Mental stressors become a thing of the past, or at least too dull to notice, allowing you to feel like a normal human for at least a few hours. Keep in mind that this strain is best for nighttime as users end up feeling fairly sedated, so while it may be tempting to indulge in the daylight hours, you might find yourself passed out on your couch for a while.

Opium can be cultivated inside or outside, but be prepared for two very different results. Indoors, and especially with hydroponics, the plant will flourish and produce huge buds in roughly 8 to 9 weeks. Outside, Opium grows to be quite unruly but will offer a larger yield. Either way you go, you’ll be blessed with a stash that will last a while.

If you can get over the name, using Opium to mellow your vibe at night is an awesome choice. Share it with roommates who have had an equally hard day and get ready to experience some nice psychoactive effects before drifting off to sleep. For those who want to try their hand at this strain in the comfort of their garden, grab the help of a seasoned grower to make sure you take proper care of this lady. The easier choice is to hop in the car and go buy some, but really it’s up to you.
