About Diamond Socks

Whether or not you’re fan of argyle -- the diamond-shaped plaid pattern for which this strain is ostensibly named -- you should give Diamond Socks a try. This balanced strain comes to us from Colorado Seed Company, who have also given us Dr. Feelgood, as a cross between Rug Burn OG and Silverback, a strain originally found in Hawaii. With a balanced high and a complex flavor profile, Diamond Socks has a THC composition measured at between 16% and 24%.

Diamond Socks is distinguished by its large and vibrant flowers. These chunky buds have a spadelike shape, tapering down from a broad base into a pointed tip. They also have a seemingly hybridized structure, with leaves that are fluffy and ragged at their fringes but more dense and compact towards their core. The small leaves are a bright shade of spring green and are filled with curly brown and orange pistils. A coating of icy white trichomes makes these buds very sticky and gives them a dewy sheen when seen from afar.

Cured flowers of Diamond Socks give off a sweet and fruity aroma. A closer inspection, however, delivers a more sour, funky edge that’s reminiscent of fermenting organic matter. When it is picked apart or ground up, the buds emit a more woodsy, earthy scent. When burnt, Diamond Socks gives off a smoke that’s smooth and easily ingested despite its sour tang. On the exhale, this smoke tastes fruity with a bit of a citrus kick.

Diamond Socks starts off with a relatively subdued character. The high begins to emerge several minutes after users have smoked, possibly leading them to question the strain’s potency. Once it arrives, this bud exerts something of a head rush, accompanied by tics like a flushing in the cheeks or an increase in salivation. These unfamiliar sensations are soon taken over by a thick and palpable feeling of physical relaxation. Users may feel a progressive sense of relief from any tightly-held muscular tension and may find themselves able to breathe more deeply. Be warned, though, that Diamond Socks can render physical exertion difficult at best. Indeed, the strain’s ability to bring about an entrenched feeling of couchlock puts it at odds with a day full of errands.

Diamond Socks is not without some pervasive mental stimulation as well, though. Soon after bringing about a sense of physical calm, the strain boosts smokers’ capacity for cerebral thinking, with certain ideas seeming to take on a new gravity. Thoughts may also flow from one to the next in uninhibited free association. This quality makes Diamond Socks a good way to work through detailed analytical tasks as well as creative personal endeavor (or, really, anything that doesn’t call for much manual labor). It also means that the strain can be an effective social lubricant, whether you’re meeting new people or hanging out with likeminded friends. Because of its alert but relaxing effects, Diamond Socks is recommended for consumption starting in late afternoon or early evening.

Diamond Socks’ versatility gives it several applications for medical cannabis patients as well. Its long-lasting cerebral properties can be a boon to those with attention deficit disorders while its subtle euphoric powers can temporarily improve the symptoms of stress and depression. Physically speaking, the strain can lessen aches and pains that are due to chronic conditions like arthritis or cancer. Its anti-inflammatory properties, meanwhile, may dull severe headaches and injury-related aches. Although its mood is physically sedative, Diamond Socks can bring about intense, recursive patterns of thinking. As such, this bud is not recommended for patients who are prone to panic or paranoia.

Seeds of this rare bud are not available for sale online. Instead, prospective home growers should take clippings from healthy and mature plants of Diamond Socks in order to grow genetically identical “clones.” Once obtained, the strain can be grown indoors or out, although outdoor success calls for a humid climate with daytime temperatures between 70 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit. The plants tend to grow short and bushy and gardeners should occasionally trim away any broad fan leaves that can prevent light and air from nourishing any low-growing nodes. Diamond Socks flowers within 8 to 9 weeks when grown indoors.

Diamond Socks is just the thing for indulging in some personal reflection while taking the edge off of a long day. It’s also a fun way to enjoy movies or other media with good friends.
