Windsor man charged after OPP raid allegedly illegal cannabis dispensary in Sarnia

A Windsor man is among those charged after OPP executed search warrants on a location in Sarnia related to allegedly illegal cannabis.

Provincial police said their joint forces cannabis enforcement team, in cooperation with members of Sarnia Police Service, raided a dispensary on June 6.

Officers seized quantities of dried cannabis and cannabis concentrates, as well as tools, electronics, cash, and weapons.

A total of four people face charges.

Christopher Lagrone, 37, of Windsor, was arrested on a charge of possessing cannabis for the purpose of distribution and selling, in violation of the Cannabis Act of Canada.

Jeremy Carey, 34, and Marc Henderson, 27, both of Sarnia, face the same charge.

Kyle Mansfield, 36, of St. Clair Township, was charged with laundering the proceeds of crime (under $5,000) and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

All four accused have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear in a provincial court in Sarnia.

Although recreational cannabis is now legal in Canada — with adult individuals allowed to possess up to 30 grams of dried cannabis in a public place — distribution of “illicit cannabis” or amounts exceeding 30 grams remains illegal.

OPP promise they will continue to “lead an enforcement strategy” involving other police services against illegal cannabis operations, based on “actionable intelligence.”

Provincial police said the focus of the strategy includes elimination of “the illegal cannabis supply,” removal of illegal cannabis operations “such as storefronts and online,” and targeting the financial proceeds of crime.
