Two packages of contraband were found by staff at Collins Bay Institution early June 7.

One package was found on the perimeter of the maximum security unit near Kingston, and one in the yard of the medium-security unit at the institution, according to a release from Lynn Dufresne, the acting assistant warden at Collins Bay.

Both packages were intercepted before inmates were able to find them.

The first package included 232 grams of marijuana and one cellphone, and the second package contained 325.6 grams of tobacco, 86.5 grams of marijuana and cellphones.

The total estimated “institutional value” of the seizures is $42,674.

The police have been notified and the institution is investigating, the news release said.
