Police forces in Montreal’s South Shore launch raids targeting drug trafficking ring

More than a dozen people were arrested Wednesday as a major police operation on Montreal’s South Shore dismantled an alleged drug trafficking ring.

Overseen by the Châteauguay police department, raids began as early as 5 a.m. in Châteauguay, Beauharnois, St-Constant, Delson, St-Isidore and Léry.

At least 13 searches and 16 arrests were carried out.

Police also seized more than 22 kilograms of cannabis, about five bricks of hash, more than 5,000 pills and 18 kilograms of cocaine.

Seven vehicles were also seized, along with approximately $13,000 in cash.

More than 150 police officers were involved in the operation, including members of the Sûreté du Québec and officers from Longueuil, Mercier, St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Richelieu/Saint-Laurent, Roussillon and Peacekeepers from Kahnawake.
