Marrone Bio (MBII) has formed a
collaboration with Compass Minerals Plant Nutrition (CMP) to develop new plant nutrition products
(enhanced fertilizers) that are combined with microorganism that promote the
absorption of nutrients in a more efficient manner.
Marrone Bio will provide access to its comprehensive library of
18,000 microorganisms and CMPN will apply its knowledge of plant
nutrition to develop novel systems that promote plant development
and increased crop yields.
There are many bacteria and fungi in soil that are known to improve
the take-up of plant nutrients and increase root health. Marrone
has a significant level of expertise in finding and developing soil
microorganisms.
Compass Minerals Plant Nutrition is a division of Compass Minerals
International Inc. The company has three divisions and operates
primarily in the United States, Canada Brazil and the United
Kingdom. 2018 revenue was close to $1.5 billion.
