Earnest Blackmon, Chief Executive Officer of United Cannabis, commented on the announcement, "Jesús is a great addition to the Company. We have spent the past two years preparing and filing patent applications on our innovations, and now that the '911 Patent was granted to us last Fall and we have filed counterparts for international protection, it is critical that we protect and monetize these intellectual property assets. Jesús' expertise and experience enable him to lead our Legal department as well as support our board and executive team as we continue our effort to establish United Cannabis as a globally recognized brand."
Mr. Vázquez added, "I'm thrilled to be a part of the United Cannabis team. There aren't many companies in this sector that are as innovative, and that have the foresight and discipline to secure patents for their work. With proprietary applications in the medical, pharmaceutical and industrial markets, I believe we have a broad range of opportunities to monetize the Company's IP assets, and I look forward to working with management to achieve our business goals."
