Perlowin informed the paper that while there is a processing plant in Las Vegas, this location is too far as hemp buds wilt and degrade if shipped more than 50 miles.
In a quote utilized by the publication, Perlowin describes why Arizona is a great place to cultivate the crop. “The soil in this part of the desert is rich in everything except nitrogen, lime and organic matter. We can add those things into the soil,†he said.

THE GREAT AMERICAN HEMPATHON
The Great American Hempathon in Golden Valley, Arizona creates joint ventures with growers and provides each grower with a five-acre parcel or up to 10 acres to plant on, and includes the planting, maintaining, harvesting and processing of hemp plants.
