Colorado-based Helix TCS (OTCQB: HLIX) announced that its subsidiary BioTrackTHC has extended its cannabis tracking contract with the State of Hawaii.
Under the one-year extended contract, BioTrackTHC will continue providing the state with its medical cannabis traceability system. The contract will expire June 30, 2020 – the state might extend the contract next year.
BioTrackTHC was awarded the Hawaii traceability contract in November of 2016 and launched Hawaii’s cannabis traceability system 72 days later. It was the first known government cannabis tracking system deployed in a FedRAMP authorized cloud-hosting environment.
Michele Nakata, the supervisor of the Hawaii Department of Health Medical Cannabis Dispensary Licensing Program, said “the BioTrackTHC system and team have been outstanding partners and we are pleased to continue working with them to ensure the success of our state’s growing cannabis program.â€
Zachary Venegas, the executive chairman and CEO of Helix TCS, cheered the second government contract extension within the last month and third in total. He said the company is happy that its “clients remain confident in our team, our product, and our service.â€
Currently, BioTrackTHC operates nine government cannabis tracking systems across seven states, Puerto Rico, and the city of Arcata, California.
Last week, the company announced a two-year extension for the state of Delaware’s government tracking contract. Recently, BioTrackTHC installed a medical cannabis traceability system in North Dakota.
Cannabis traceability systems are designed to help legal cannabis programs to reach a fully operational status by offering guarantee product safety and quality to businesses and consumers.
