David Irving, defensive lineman for the Dallas Cowboys, says he’s quitting the NFL.

Irving made the announcement via Instagram Live yesterday, criticizing the league’s cannabis policy after receiving an indefinite suspension on Friday for an alleged violation of the policy on substance abuse.

The defensive lineman appeared to be smoking a fat blunt as he delivered his message to fans.

“Basically, guys. I quit,” he said.  “I know they’re talking about a suspension and all this other nonsense. I’m out of there. I’m not doing this s**t no more.”

This is Irving’s third suspension in four years, and he railed against the NFL’s anti-cannabis stance for players.

“Everyone thinks it’s about smoking weed. It’s not about smoking weed. It’s much bigger than that. Much, much bigger. Hell, I have concussions every day. I get to see around the office how that f***s your head up and I feel it,” he said.

The 25-year-old, who joined the Dallas team in 2015, criticized the ban on cannabis use in the midst of an opioid crisis, noting that cannabis is safer than prescription pills for treating injuries incurred on the field.

“We got this opioid thing going on and I’m prescribed all that bulls—, and I just think it’s bulls— that we’ve got to deal with that policy.”

Irving will become a free agent at the start of the offseason.
