BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) _ Encompass Health Corp. (EHC) on Thursday reported fourth-quarter net income of $28.1 million.
The Birmingham, Alabama-based company said it had profit of 28 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 80 cents per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 79 cents per share.
The rehabilitation hospital operator posted revenue of $1.1 billion in the period, also surpassing Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.09 billion.
For the year, the company reported profit of $292.3 million, or $2.93 per share. Revenue was reported as $4.28 billion.
Encompass Health expects full-year earnings in the range of $3.71 to $3.85 per share, with revenue in the range of $4.5 billion to $4.6 billion.
Encompass Health shares have risen 11 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $68.32, an increase of 30 percent in the last 12 months.
