Lifestyle guru Martha Stewart is partnering with Canadian LP Canopy Growth Corp to develop a line of hemp-derived CBD products.

The company announced on Thursday that Stewart will start by assisting with the development of a collection of products for pet health. Also included in the partnership is Sequential Brands Group, a company that has had business dealings with Stewart in the past.
âI am delighted to establish this partnership with Canopy Growth and share with them the knowledge I have gained after years of experience in the subject of living,â Stewart said. âIâm especially looking forward to our first collaboration together, which will offer sensible products for peopleâs beloved pets.â
âAs soon as you hear the name Martha, you know exactly who weâre talking about,â stated Canopy Growth Chairman and co-CEO, Bruce Linton. âMartha is one of a kind and I am so excited to be able to work alongside this icon to sharpen our CBD product offerings across categories from human to animal.â

This is not Canopyâs first foray into celebrity partnerships. Snoop Dogg has also worked with Canopy subsidiary Tweed to release Leafs by Snoop, a collection of three cultivars.
Itâs unclear exactly how the partnership will operate in Canada, as celebrity endorsement of cannabis companies is strictly forbidden.
âThe law is explicit and clear, that celebrity endorsement, lifestyle advertising is not allowed with cannabis,â Liberal MP and former Toronto Chief of Police Bill Blair said last year.
CBD products in Canada must come from a licensed producer. The compoundâs popularity has risen steeply since federal legalization came into force on October 17.
