On a per-share basis, the Dallas-based company said it had net income of $1.31. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, were $1.26 per share.
The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.20 per share.
The operator of restaurant chains Chili's Grill & Bar and Maggiano's Little Italy posted revenue of $839.3 million in the period, also topping Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $833.4 million.
Brinker International shares have decreased roughly 1% since the beginning of the year. The stock has fallen 2% in the last 12 months.
