Vice President of Human Resources

AgMedica is currently recruiting for a Vice President of Human Resources for their corporate operations. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the successful candidate will develop and drive organizational effectiveness and support to the organization by working alongside the executive team; they will be an essential part of AgMedica’s strategic planning on all major initiatives. The Executive Vice President, Human Resources will lead a multi-faceted team of professionals and will be responsible for building on the planned direction of the Human Resource department and ensuring effective management and delivery of AgMedica Human Resource policy; building high performing teams while augmenting the working environment across all locations in Canada and globally.

Major Duties:

  • Always adhere to AgMedica Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to ensure safety, efficacy, and quality, in all HR protocols and operations;
  • Familiar with and follow the Cannabis Act and its regulations, along with all other federal, provincial and Human Rights legislation;
  • Build and foster an inclusive and respectful environment for all employees, ensuring compliance with employment equity and human rights legislation;
  • Work effectively across the business to drive high functioning leadership teams and an engaged workforce;
  • Oversee and drive recruitment and selection: including determining talent needs, advertising, sourcing, interviewing, hiring, contract negotiation and onboarding;
  • Continuous market research; create and update compensation strategy through market analysis;
  • Working with HR Managers develop onboarding, training, and performance management programs for each AgMedica division;
  • Oversee communication between executive team and HR team on all HR/business related questions and activities;
  • Work with HR Managers on employee complaints and investigations;
  • Review and update policies and procedures, staying within the standards set by Health Canada, Employment Standards, Human Rights and all other federal and provincial legislation;
  • Succession planning; determine business needs both current and future;
  • Be extremely approachable, have an open-door policy with good listening skills;
  • Generate, manage and maintain reports designed to provide analytical and validation support to the executive team and board members;
  • Continue building a culture of engagement, collaboration, teamwork, and inclusiveness;
  • Oversee and ensure health and safety guidelines are implemented and followed;
  • Qualifications:

  • Post secondary in Business Administration, Human Resource Management and/or any other related discipline.
  • CHRL or CHRP designation required, in good standing with HRPA.
  • 5+ years experience working in a senior Human Resource role, preference given to those working in a growth stage organization.
  • Knowledge and experience working in a GMP organization preferred.
  • Demonstrate necessary comprehension of the English language.
  • Strong IT knowledge and skills, including superior use of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Must be bondable.
