Supply Chain/Product Sourcing Manager

Lowell Herb Co. is looking for a Supply Chain/Product Sourcing Manager that will be a key contributor across Operations who will drive significant value as the company continues to grow. The Supply Chain Manager will provide leadership to the Supply Planning, Purchasing (Direct Materials), Inventory Management, and Logistics.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supply Planning and Purchasing
  • Understand inventory and service level objectives
  • Build a network of trustworthy vendors and suppliers (locally and internationally) including: printers, glass manufacturers, clothing designers and seamstresses, woodworkers and more.
  • Oversee development from conception and prototypes all the way to final production
  • Recommend new ideas and methods for construction and execution– if you have an idea we want to hear it!
  • Work with our creative leads to execute product development timelines, budgets and print-ready files for our vendors
  • Oversee prototypes, samples and general QA of products
  • Develop negotiation strategies and secure profitable deals
  • Determine quantity and timing of deliveries
  • Research new packaging options
  • Handle all importing logistics of samples and products
  • Support the implementation, training, use and improvement of supply planning / MRP software
  • Work closely with Technical Services Team to ensure on time delivery of new products and adherence to quality processes and procedures
  • Manage communications and transactional relationships with vendors and suppliers
  • Perform site visits to plants and distribution centers as needed
  • Manage Days Inventory Outstanding (DIO) targets while balancing service levels
  • Prevent / minimize slow moving and obsolete inventory
  • Develop timelines for inventory runouts and launches
  • Ensure all third parties are complying with company inventory policies, including proper rotation and tracking of lot numbers
  • Manage Logistics
  • Meet or exceed service levels at the lowest-possible cost.
  • Identify cost reduction tactics, methods and strategies to continually manage costs
  • Foster relationships with current carriers and/or brokers
  • Source new carriers/brokers and find best in class rates
  • Stay informed on industry developments and changes in regulations

    • Qualifications/Requirements

  • Has a “by any means necessary” attitude
  • 5+ years of sourcing and product development
  • You thrive under pressure and know how to manage multiple projects and requests at a time.
  • You feel comfortable sketching and have basic photoshop and illustrator skills that help visualize ideas for vendors.
  • You’re capable of providing precise measurements for our designers and vendors to work off of.
  • You’re scrappy and make things happen, no matter how crazy the idea is and don’t stop until it’s complete.
  • You have a rolodex full of vendors. We’re doing everything from custom packaging to custom clothing and need someone that can source and develop for both.
  • You’re an amazing communicator and great with people. This job will require lots of emails, phone calls and in-person meetings.
  • Extremely organized and detail oriented
  • You have a car (some travel will be required to meet with vendors)
  • Is someone who understands the big picture of a supply chain network, supply chain data structures, and loves making sense of it all
  • Is flexible with evolving needs, tight timelines, and willing to push for the impossible
  • BS/BA in Logistics, Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Mathematics, or a relevant field
