Summer Intern - Analytical Chemist

Cannabistry Labs Denver Team is seeking an Intern for the Summer of 2019, this person will be responsible for performing permeation experiments for product development purposes, ointment sample preparation sample cleanup development and optimization, performing validation tests for new sample types and compile all results as well as testing and validating new solvent type for sample extractions.

We have a state-of-the-art research and development laboratory and pilot plant in Denver, CO and corporate headquarters in Niles, IL. We have successfully developed and launched multiple cannabis-infused product lines and brands with our licensed partners in Colorado and Washington and are aggressively expanding into additional states.

Cannabistry Labs is developing a robust commercialization pipeline of new products through highly collaborative cross-functional teams from R&D, Science & Technology, Innovation, Scientific and Regulatory Affairs, Commercialization and Market Activation. A modified Stage Gate® process is used to drive the entire product life cycle, from creation to commercialization.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Operate UPLC & GC-MS instrumentation for analysis of raw material, in-process, and final product samples
  • Manage laboratory consumables inventory
  • Perform sample analysis as described by in-house methods, literature, or vendor supply methodology
  • Maintain logs of standard, control, and sample runs to verify equipment function
  • Process chromatographic data and communicate significance of results to management
  • Development and validation of novel analytical methods targeted toward new sample types
  • Maintain and troubleshoot UPLC & GC-MS instrumentation as needed
  • Document all lab work per GMP and company standards
  • Maintain a clean and organized laboratory
  • Properly clean and care for all laboratory equipment
  • Primary Qualifications

  • Be enrolled in or have completed a BS/MS degree in Chemistry, Life Science, Food Science, or a closely related field with laboratory experience
  • General understanding of LC and GC instruments
  • Proficiency with basic laboratory skills such as pipetting and instrument calibration
  • Precisely and consistently follow detailed SOPs for laboratory procedures
  • Experience with handling hazardous chemicals
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
