Sample Management Technician

️ Testing

This is an exciting opportunity to work in the emerging and fast paced environment of cannabis laboratory testing. The successful candidate will be a Sample Management Technician at our new headquarters in Santa Ana and will report directly to Director of Lab Operations.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Receive and prepare samples for downstream laboratory processing and analysis, including, but not limited to:
  • Removing samples from packaging
  • Weighing out, splitting and batching samples as needed for multiple downstream tests
  • Capturing images of samples
  • Perform qualitative testing on samples.
  • Record sample data by entering information into our computer tracking system.
  • Responsible for various laboratory support activities, including but not limited to, consumable and sample inventory, record-keeping, sample disposal, and cleaning.
  • Communicate with Lab Directors and other teams about issues and sample status.
  • Demonstrate ability to multi-task and prioritize projects efficiently.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, well-organized, and efficient laboratory work environment.
  • Remain up-to-date on all SOPs and maintain documentation required for compliance.
  • Assist in maintaining the laboratory for ISO/NELAC accreditation standards and future audits.
  • Ensure adequate inventory of supplies needed.
  • Work on projects assigned by lab management and work in collaboration with other technicians.
  • Qualifications and Skills

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Bachelor's degree in biological, chemical, agricultural, environmental, or related sciences from an accredited college or university is required with 0-1+ years of related experience. Candidates with experience with laboratory processing will be given preference OR Bachelor's degree in an unrelated field from an accredited college or university with 2+ years of relevant laboratory experience.
  • Basic math, interpretive, analytical skills and the ability to perform documentation for ISO / NELAC standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new computer applications is essential. Experience working with a LIMS is preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Physical Demands

  • Extensive sitting and computer use.
  • Capable of standing continuously for up to 2 hours.
  • Extend and reach with hands and arms and use hands and fingers.
  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crouch.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
