Laboratory Technician

Under the direction of an assigned laboratory manager or supervisor, the Laboratory Technician will perform all preparatory duties needed for the accurate testing of cannabis/cannabis derived products using approved company procedures as mandated by the CA state Bureau of Cannabis Control (BCC). The applicant should be experienced with wet bench chemistry or sample intake processing as well as compliant Good Laboratory Practices.

Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for maintaining integrity of laboratory processes which includes, but not limited to:
  • Consumable inventory management
  • Equipment/instrument maintenance involved with sample accessioning.
  • Document Traceability
  • Restocking of reagents and other consumables for Laboratory Technical Analyst.
  • Perform reagent mixtures, dilutions and aliquots.
  • Prepare accepted samples for accessioning, processing and analyzing.
  • Actively participate as part of the method development, laboratory operations and following Good Laboratory Practices as defined in approved SOPs
  • Follow laboratory protocols rigorously to execute assigned duties, thoroughly document all activities and maintain formal lab notebook. Understand the experimental goals and results and provide feedback and basic troubleshooting as necessary.
  • As part of ongoing technical growth, gain further understanding of experimental principles by reading appropriate literature.
  • Work cooperatively in a team environment; supporting all co-workers.
  • Education Requirements

  • Completed 2 years college or university education; or
  • Earned a High School Diploma or passed a General Educational Development or High School Equivalency exam, plus at least 1 year of full-time relevant experience.
  • Experience Requirements

  • At least one(1) year of experience in a regulated laboratory environment.
  • At least one(1) year of experience of hands-on wet chemistry skills.
  • Experience with technical and mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Essential reading, research and writing skills
  • Critical thinking, judgment and decision making skills
  • Competency in MS Office products and ability to quickly learn other software applications
