Director of Distribution

The Distribution Manager will be responsible for the management and optimization of all daily warehouse and distribution operations. This position will manage several areas within the warehouse including order management, inventory control, product storage/rotation, compliance lab testing, picking/packing, delivery/transportation, and other special projects as deemed necessary. With our growth trajectory, this position is crucial to ensuring that we have effective internal processes in place that support our increasing daily transactions. These transactions need to be accomplished efficiently and with extreme accuracy for maximum customer satisfaction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Manage warehouse daily operations: Identify and implement productivity opportunities in operations, logistics and warehouse footprint
  • Drive productivity by setting daily, weekly and long-term goals for the team
  • Develop measurements and monitor the performance of warehouse in terms of inventory accuracy, perfect order accuracy, and delivery performance
  • Lead, coach and develop employees to meet/exceed business goals & objectives
  • Allocate resources, establish and maintain a teamwork environment
  • Coordinate and process all customer shipments with a focus on response time and accuracy
  • Address issues with the root cause, corrective action and implement short term and long term solutions
  • Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required with internal and cross-functional teams
  • Deploy Lean methodology to simplify and improve operation: evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of warehouse layouts, processes, procedures, and daily workflow
  • Support, develop and manage work instructions, documentation, and corrective action plans as part of a continuous improvement model
  • Manage all warehouse project activity and enhance operational performance efficiency: Automation, implement process improvement techniques and expansion/relocation
  • Create ROI and cost-benefit analysis for the implementation of initiatives and expenditures to improve processes
  • Utilize a Warehouse Management System (WMS) to manage the physical and information workflow through the warehouse
  • Lead / manage warehouse, tooling, system, suppliers and contractor's issues for on-going operations
  • Oversee the coordination of warehouse/building space allocation and layout expansion
  • JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education/training/experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of Warehouse Management, Enterprise Resource Planning system (Acumatica preferred) transactional & fulfillment experience (pharmaceutical, food & beverage, consumer goods, parts, manufacturing, logistics, etc.)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate well with all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs/projects
  • Established project management skills
  • Adaptable/Flexible - being open to change in response to new information, different or unexpected circumstances
  • Knowledge of:

  • Lean Experience, Kaizen, 5s, Process mapping, improved productivity
  • Team value and has the ability to successfully motivate and maintain employee involvement while driving change
  • Organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • OSHA and EHS experience
  • Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Physical Standards:

  • This position requires frequent sitting, standing, reaching, walking, and handling/grasping of materials. Must have finger dexterity, ability to use keyboard/ten key
  • Able to participate in the inspection of company machinery and operations
  • Reach, stoop and lift office files, records or reports, typically weighing 20 pounds or less

  • Constantly sitting, standing, walking, and operating a computer workstation
  • Travel: Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
