This Job description defines the duties and responsibility for the position of Cultivation Agent and Lead cultivation agent; Lead Agent is assigned to the candidate who demonstrate the most experience and education among other candidates.

The Cultivation Agents are the primary persons in charge of performing cultivation operations at Galenas Michigan LLC’s Camden location. The Cultivation Agents work under the Cultivation Manager in Camden.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

The Cultivation Agent is accountable for performing inspections to monitor plant performance, nutrient additions, perform pest mitigation strategies and other cultivation related tasks. As the bulk of the Cultivation team, these individuals with the direction from the Cultivation Manager are responsible for ensuring proper lighting, watering, temperature and humidity controls for plants

Work with Cultivation Manager of Galenas Michigan LLC to implement plans to improve cultivation practices, crop quality, and yield within the Camden, MI location.

Maintain supplies and materials such to conserve resources including but not limited to soil, water, nutrients, and consumables. Maintain clean and orderly working environment.

Miscellaneous tasks assigned by Cultivation Manager.

Job Specifications

Education: This position prefers an associate’s degree, preferably in botany, horticulture, biology, chemistry, or environmental science; other technical concentrations and certifications will be considered.

Candidates with more education and previous experience may be considered for Lead Cultivation Agent

Skills and Abilities: Requires strong oral communication skills, experience working with a team towards a common goal, strong listening skills, effective problem solving skills, understanding of plant biology, medicinal plants, and crop production methods. Knowledge of organic production methods is a plus.

Ability to read and understand technical subjects such as technical specifications, technical procedures, process descriptions, etc….

Ability to read well-structured, technical reports, protocols and technical correspondences.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as application rates, change over time, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of algebra and geometry.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Has to be driven, self- motivating and well organized.

Strong ability to use required software applications including, METRC, BioTrack, and Windows Office Application Software (Excel, Word, Power Point, Access, etc…)

Basic knowledge of master production scheduling, material requirements planning, inventory control and production control

Successful previous experience as a cultivation technician, assistant, or agent is a plus.

Proven ability to work with a team to drive a goal or mission from plan to close

Lead Cultivation Agent will require proven team leadership, mentoring, and should demonstrate ability to maintain team performance given adversity, undesirable situation, or difficulty. Lead agent is responsible to guide cultivation agents under the direction of Cultivation Manager.

Experience: This position requires a minimum 3+ years’ experience in a fast-paced working environment where one was personally accountable for personal goals while also working with a team towards a common goal. Candidates for Lead Cultivation Agents will be given priority with 5+ year’s experience in plant production or horticulture.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will frequently stand, and occasionally sit, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee will occasionally be required to lift/move up to 75 pounds. There are no special vision requirements if one can recognize pests using a hand lens or microscope.

Equipment Used: Operational equipment including forklifts, skid steers and other various equipment needed to be successful in the operations. Must be familiar with nutrient handling, irrigation, and lighting equipment. Computer, telephone, and standard office equipment.
