Chemical Engineer, CBD Extraction

CBD Energy Labs is seeking a highly motivated individual to lead our scientific team in Miami, FL. We have an immediate opening for a Chemical Engineer. The successful candidate is responsible for taking crude CBD oil and refining it into various distillate and isolate products, following quality assurance, operations, safety, and proper documentation to ensure compliance with cGMP standards.

This is an ideal position for an individual with an engineering or science background with some experience in chromatography. We are looking for a team-player, a forward-thinker, and a respectful collaborator.

Core Job Responsibilities:

  • Operate and manage the high-throughput progression of hemp-derived crude oil, and using multiple distillation systems (molecular and short-path), turning it into 80-85%+ distillate CBD oil
  • Further refinement of distillate into Isolate CBD (99%+) using methods of chromatography HPLC, GC, FC
  • Create water-compatible CBD distillate using nanoemulsion systems
  • Consistently achieve quality end products with repeatability
  • Create new and improved product formulations
  • Perform engineering calculations for proposed processes
  • Help develop and write batch records in a GLP/GMP environment
  • Help develop protocols for and perform equipment validation
  • Ensuring regulatory compliance, including safety, environmental and document control requirements.
  • Ability to resolve any conflict respectfully and in a timely manner, addressing and resolving problems in order to create a culture of engagement and high-performance
  • Ensuring equipment reliability throughout production process
  • Maintain accurate records and inventory
  • Education:

  • Bachelor's (Required)
  • Master's (Preferred)
  • Doctorate: (Optional)
  • Experience:

  • Laboratory: 3 years (Preferred)
  • Chemistry: 2 years (Preferred)
  • Chemical Engineering: 2 years (Preferred)
  • Hemp/Cannabis: 2 years (Preferred)
  • Requirements:

  • Highly skilled and experienced in botanical extractions (co2, ethanol, crude, distillate, isolate, chromatography)
  • Superior time management skills including the ability to manage multiple issues concurrently and the ability to lead an effective and efficient meeting.
  • Exposure to a fast pace/deadline related environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of management and organizational concepts, principles, and techniques with demonstrated professional assertiveness.
  • Experience in chromatography. Liquid, gas, flash (preferred)
  • Excellent critical thinking skills to be able to troubleshoot any issue with the processes and instrumentation.
  • Strong math and computer skills, including ability to create and interpret data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and customer support skills
  • An understanding of cannabinoids and the CBD industry
