Alternate Quality Assurance Person

️ Compliance

  • Oversees both quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) for the SugarBud licensed facility pertaining to production, facility, security, storage, packaging, labeling and Good Production Practices in accordance with the Cannabis Regulations.
  • Ensuring compliance and enforcing GAP, GPP, GMP, HACCP and Quality Assurance standards, providing technical and regulatory directions and insights in growing inputs, packaging and production of medical marijuana.
  • Supports continual quality improvement of the production process of medical marijuana through reinforcement of product quality and food safety programs, sanitation program and oversight of security system.
  • Review regulations, documents and reports pertaining to the Cannabis Regulations, Non-conformance Reports (NCR), Corrective Action Reports (CAR), Food and Drugs Act (FDA), Controlled drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) and Pest Control Products Act (PCPA).
  • Develop/update and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Quality Manuals.
  • Develops quality assurance plans by conducting hazard analysis; identifying critical control points and preventative measures; establishes critical limits, monitoring procedures, corrective actions and verification procedures.
  • Oversees critical/technical review of documents, test results, procedures and production equipment, including equipment qualification and validation.
  • Review certificates of analysis and results of laboratory tests for compliance to specification.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations through auditing and quality systems.
  • Investigate product non-conformances; conduct material reviews for complaints, and document findings and responses. Manage product holds, reprocessing actions, and final disposition processes for non-compliant resources.
  • Manage procedures and processes pertaining to incidents, complaints, deviations and recalls.
  • Manage audit and information requests from Health Canada pertaining to Quality Assurance and Quality Control.
  • Provide training and mentorship of the Quality Assurance team.
  • Complete all training and safety requirements.
  • Flexibility to work variable shifts.
  • Must be willing to relocate or commute to Stavely, Alberta, relocation assistance may be considered.
  • Where possible, be available on site or via telephone after hours in the event of an emergency related to the production systems at the facility.
  • Must carry and use personal swipe card and personal code to access secured areas.
  • Required Education, Skills and Qualifications

  • Must be familiar with the provisions of the Cannabis Regulations and the Food and Drugs Act.
  • Must have read and be familiar with “SugarBud Craft Growers” company policies and procedures.
  • Bachelor of Science in a technical discipline (Food, Chemical or Biological Sciences preferred).
  • 4 to 5 years of experience with Quality Assurance Management in a GAP, GMP and HACCP regulated environment, with proficiency related to quality assurance systems, documentation, testing methods, and proficient in English.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining version-controlled standards, policies, procedures and work flows.
  • Exemplary knowledge and comprehension of Good Production Practices (GPP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • The Cannabis Regulations requires candidates to undergo security clearance and the individual must be approved by Health Canada as suitable for the QAP role. All qualification documents will be required to be submitted upon request.
