Agronomist

Required knowledge, skills and/or experience in the following areas:

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Understanding of plant nutrition and physiology
  • Integrated Pest Management
  • Soil science
  • Practical experience with experimental design
  • Problem solving, critical thinking and analytical mindset
  • Literature review, data organization and basic statistics
  • Capable of multi-tasking and an ability to manage several projects simultaneously
  • Strong computer software skills (MS Word, Excel, etc)
  • 0-2 years of work experience in agricultural research or production setting

    • Preferred knowledge, skills and/or experience in the following areas:

  • Cannabis cultivation
  • Vegetable, fruit and/or nursery production experience
  • Soil fertility and nutrient management experience
  • Greenhouse environmental control
  • Business acumen
  • Familiarity with laboratory analysis processes and practices, and the practical application of these analyses
  • 2-3 years experience in an agricultural research or production setting, preferably greenhouse
  • Other requirements:
  • Able to work outside and in greenhouses for extended periods of time, as well as in office environment
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs intermittently
  • Possess a valid Driver’s License and reliable mode of transportation
  • Ability to obtain OLCC Marijuana Worker’s Permit prior to start date

    • Job Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring crop growth, documentation and determining nutrient requirements
  • Soil and plant tissue sampling and testing
  • Assist with IPM Program; scouting, pest ID, and appropriate biological control and/or pesticide recommendations
  • Assist with field trial coordination, execution and data analysis and reporting
  • Assist with scheduling, planting, fertilizer application, irrigation and harvest
  • Assist with canopy management optimization; pruning, topping, tipping, training
  • Assist with development of new protocols and procedures based on plant response trials and observations
  • Assist with all other agronomic duties

    • Required education: Bachelors Degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Science, Crop & Soil Science, Biology or related field.
