About Southern California Collective

To promote the growth of a responsible and legitimate cannabis industry and work for a favorable social, economic, and legal environment for our industry in the state of California.

The California Cannabis Industry Association was founded on the principle of strength in numbers. The thousands of California businesses involved in our state-legal cannabis industry represent a significant economic force. As the industry's most influential state trade association, CCIA works everyday to ensure our burgeoning business sector is represented in a professional and coordinated way at the state level.

2019 was not the year that California’s regulated cannabis industry had anticipated.  Almost two years into legalization, we continue to be plagued by burdensome taxation, local bans, onerous regulations, an illicit vape crisis, slow growth and a thriving illicit market.  These issues present incredible challenges, but also provide an opportunity for industry wide collaboration.

In response to the illicit vape crisis, CCIA became founding partners of Legal Cannabis for Consumer Safety (LCCS), a coalition representing California’s largest licensed cannabis growers, manufacturers, associations, retailers, testing labs, advocates, and marketplaces.  LCCS has been instrumental in educating regulators, legislators, and the administration on data-driven policy recommendations to combat the vape associated pulmonary illnesses and prioritize public safety and health.

In response to the CDTFA’s late November announcement of tax increases on the regulated market, CCIA is leading the fight for comprehensive tax reform.  Upon the release of CDTFA’s announcement, CCIA activated our membership and submitted a letter of reconsideration to the Newsom administration with over 160 members signing on.  Tax reform is at the top of CCIA’s legislative priorities for 2020.

We encourage the Administration and Legislature to partner with the industry to develop comprehensive policies that increase legal participation and support a safe and robust cannabis market.
