Dr. Milan L. Hopkins Dr. Hopkins is a general practice doctor working in medicine for over forty years in Upper Lake, California. A doctor that truly listens to his patients, he provides medical marijuana recommendations as one of many treatment options to empower patients to change and improve their health.
Dr. Milan Hopkins earned his Doctorate from the University of Arkansas School of Medicine in 1969, specializing in internal medicine. Over his forty plus years of practicing as a primary care physician, he has served in the United States Navy as a Medical Officer, volunteered at a Haight-Ashbury Free Medical Clinic, and operated his practice in Upper Lake, California.
Serving tens of thousands of patients over the course of his career, Dr. Hopkins always believes that his primary role is to listen and observe, only to diagnose when certain he can provide an accurate one, and to offer the best options for treatment to alleviate a patient's condition. As such, he is an advocate of alternative therapies, including medical cannabis which he believes is one of the safest and most widely applicable medicines available.
When Prop 215 was passed, Dr. Hopkins began to provide medical marijuana recommendations and has been providing his patients with evaluations since 1998. Dr. Hopkins philosophy is to make truly listen to his patients, make observations and take their complaints into account, and provide as accurate a diagnosis as he is able, and if he is unable he will refer them to someone who can treat them. Consistent with his ability to listen and treat patients well, visitors fly in from across the country to visit his general practice and over 98% of his patient base are either referrals or returning patients. The Medical Board of California has reviewed Dr. Hopkins several times, and each time they are reassured that they are doing everything by the books. With such a high reputation, Dr. Hopkins has helped more than 20,000 individual office visitors in the last five years alone.
While Dr. Hopkins’ general practice accepts many kinds of insurance, they are unable to accept insurance for medical cannabis recommendations. Medical cannabis patients are required by the medical board to visit their physician every six months, and the doctor coordinates a follow-up schedule with each of his medical marijuana recommendation patients. Patients are welcome to call with any follow-up questions or concerns by phone, and both scheduled appointments and walk-ins are welcome, please call ahead to confirm availability for a walk-in appointment.
