Luigi has been involved in the rapidly expanding marijuana industry since 2009, when he founded a consulting company to assist industry executives in grappling with the non-profit aspects required by most state laws. This lead to him becoming the Chief Financial Officer for Harborside Health Center, where he played an important role in helping them to become a leader in the industry.
Luigi’s CPA practice is focused on the marijuana industry, both medical and recreational. He has clients in states all across the US and clients involved in all aspects of the industry: from cultivation, to edible bakers, to testing laboratories, to retail dispensaries.
Luigi was a pioneer in addressing the challenges posed by IRC Section 280E and he continues today to help businesses to comply in a manner that still allows sufficient after-tax profit. He has been involved with the National Cannabis Industry Association to help with lobbying efforts to amend Section 280E.
Luigi was a key member of BOTEC, the consultants engaged by the Washington State Liquor Control Board to help with developing regulations for the recreational market in Washington. He prepared an analysis of the impact the excise taxes will have on consumer prices and industry profits (you can see this analysis on the Liquor Control Board’s I-502 website). He also provided business-friendly input on the proposed regulations.
