After trotting around the country for 20 years, Bob said to Becky, “Hey, let’s go back to the east coast. Better yet, let’s go back to Vermont. Best of all, let’s go back to Vermont and be FARMERS!” And that’s just exactly what they did.
The Fisher Farms Bob knew as a kid, located near Oneida Lake in upstate New York, was operated by the current founder’s grandfather and two great uncles. Albert, Bernard and Bob (the current Bob’s name-sake) provided a wonderful example of entrepreneurship, family teamwork, and community involvement, following in the footsteps of their German immigrant ancestors who came to the United States in the mid 19th century. They bred and ran a substantial dairy herd starting from one calf, they developed a large egg business, grew apples and made cider, established a highly successful farm equipment business; they pursued just about any agricultural venture that showed promise.
