About CannaGather

CannaGather is the largest cannabis industry community in NY, NJ, and now across the US - comprised of 13,000+ industry leaders and newcomers! Join an event below!

Every month in a dozen cities across the US, CannaGather hosts 50-300 person monthly education and networking events for folks in and looking to join the burgeoning cannabis industry. Our events start with dinner, drinks, networking, and industry-leading sponsor tables in a business casual networking environment. An hour or so in we transition to a fireside chat with industry luminaries as well as related experts including politicians, celebrities, athletes, and advocacy champions.

Our audience is primarily comprised of entrepreneurs, operators, and members of the industry plus the next generation thereof. We also have cohorts of investors and service providers.

We have been featured on TV (WPIX, NY1, Cheddar) and print (Rolling Stone, NY Post, High Times).

OUR MISSION

Josh Weinstein was a venture-backed entrepreneur who participated in and then spoke twice at the New York Tech Meetup. In 2013, he realized a similar ecosystem should be fostered for the multi-bottom line cannabis industry, given its financial, medical, and social equity opportunities. He teamed up with Gary Kofman to launch CannaGather in New York on April 23rd with an initial sponsorship from Weedmaps, a crowd of 30 people, and lawyer Adam Scavone as the first speaker.

Now, CannaGather in New York regularly attracts 250-300 people (with 370 at the peak) and is supported by a dozen sponsors, including long-term sponsors like Cole Schotz P.C. and MGO. Past speakers include Bruce Linton of Canopy Growth, John Stossel, former NYC Speaker of the City Council Melissa Mark-Viverito, DA Cy Vance Jr, Kyle Detwiler of Canopy Growth, Richard Carleton of the Canadian Securities Exchange, Mitch Baruchowitz of Merida Capital, Marvin Washington of Isodiol/NY Jets, and Danny Danko of High Times.

After seeing the success of CannaGather in New York, industry champions in other cities wanted to bring the model and network to their community. In the first five months of 2019, CannaGather grew from 2 markets to 12 with multi-hundred person events in Los Angeles, Colorado, and more.

CannaGather's mission is to help build and support the entrepreneurial ecosystem by facilitating connections, elevating discourse, and creating a fun space for the community to converge. By pushing the industry forward, we hope to dually impact the economic and advocacy aims of the cannabis industry.

We support the efforts of advocates and believe cannabis legalization with a strong restorative justice and social equity program is imperative, immediately. We regularly speak to legislators about cannabis and the industry.

We are eager to hear from you if there is a way we can collaborate or if you have suggestions on more we can do. Be sure to reach out to us to [email protected]!
