Hemp has been processed for fibre for thousands of years. But in Canada, hemp stalk is not processed for fibre, it is wasted. But it’s not hard to see why: traditional decortication (the processing of stalk into fibre) is labour intensive, and there is no such as domestic large scale textile manufacturing.
In order to reduce the costs of decortication, CIHC is implementing a manufacturing platform that coordinates and automates planning and processing and value added manufacturing.
Our large scale facility will reduce the cost of decortication 40+ % compared to existing operations. And our innovative thermoplastic feedstock product will create a large, profitable demand market for our output.
Our thermoplastic feedstock product will lower material costs 25 + % for injection, extrusion, and pultrusion moulders. Initial response to our proposal from large plastics manufacturer’s has been extremely positive; with many signing letters of intent.
